Here I am one day away from leaving on this trip of a lifetime. The last few days have been spent buying the last few items on my list. However, this list never seems to end. I have been collecting items ever since I found out I was going on this trip this past April. I never thought this weekend would arrive but October 2, 2010, my departure date to Los Angelas and finally Guatemala is less than 24 hours away!!! Yikes!
Yesterday I was able to practice packing everything into my two bags and I actually think it may all fit……..imagine that.
The question everyone asks is:
How do you pack for 11 months???? Good question.
Everything Im bringing fit on the top of my twin bed.
(Ohhhh and do you like my world map on the wall??? While I am gone my Mom is going to glue the flag of each country i travel to right next to it on the map. If you look close enough you can see the flags of the Dominican Republic, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and of course USA cause those are all countries I have traveled to so far.)

And then it all fit in my two backpacks. Im hoping I didnt forget anything, but then again if I did there are always stores overseas.
Yes that little blue thing on the bottom left is a pillow……one thing from home I had to bring.
It is crazy to think everything I need for the next 11 months I will be carrying on my back in a backpack. As I was packing yesterday I ran across some stuff I kept from my trip to Africa two years ago. I was reminded of the excitement I felt on that trip and how I realized that what was on my back was really all I NEEDED. Don’t get me wrong, I love my worldly comforts, but I don’t need them. So here I am giving up everything I’ve collected over the past 23 years of my life and I’m gonna live out of my backpack……..
So I love all you guys and I’m gonna miss you all……..
Be back in 11 months…..
