11 AM
A woman walks into the church and expresses that she is dealing with a lot of things that are weighing heavy on her heart. She asks us if we could pray for her and we say, “Yes! Of course!”
11:30 AM
We put on dresses, makeup and santa hats and walk down to the beach so we can take pictures for the Christmas cards we’re going to send home. In the process, we attract some attention (because of dresses and santa hats) and end up talking to several random strangers and invite them to bible study. Some of these strangers end up being some Muslims from Belgium who act pretty interested in hearing about Christianity.
12:30 PM
I have a conversation with our host about how she is struggling with her teenage son because he is being a typical teenage rebellious boy. I’m able to encourage her and pray for her.
6 PM
We teach a small English class to some locals who live nearby.
6:30 PM
We invite some friends over to the church for a bible trivia game! It’s so much fun! Also, my team wins, mainly because the pastor is on our team and also Corinne who remembers a name after hearing it once. (Destroyed the Old Testament category by knowing people’s names!)
8 PM
We go to a local bar where some friends work as entertainers. They are so musically talented! We get to chat and hang out for a while before praying over them and that their jobs would be successful. Joe and Sarah have been able to form many relationships this way and many people now attend the church on Sundays and share the light of Christ in the bars they work at!
11 PM
If it’s Friday, we’re at bible study which lasts until about 2 AM! We’re so tired but these people are hungry for the word and the only time available to them in their busy schedules is right now. So we meet from 11 PM until 2 AM to worship the Lord and dive into the word! It’s a great time of fellowship and learning.
If it’s just about any other night of the week, we’re on the beach, playing volleyball. Which also lasts until about 2 AM or later. We have so much fun inviting anyone who is walking by to play a game or two with us. We meet so many people from all over the world and have the opportunity to share the Gospel with them!
This month we do not do door to door ministry just to share the Gospel. We do not pass out Bibles or do much street evangelism, at least not as planned ministry. However we have so many opportunities to share the words and love of God with the people who are native to, as well as those visiting Phuket! And we’ve seen the fruit! This month looks entirely different from the rest of my race but I’m so thankful to have had it!
