Mark 7:34, “And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.”
Ezekiel 37:4/5,”…O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord…Behold I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.”
Man, God is BIG!!!!!
And He rocked me these last two weeks in India. In total we put on 7 medical camps all up and through north eastern India, and God seriously blew our minds each time. It was our fourth one when I witnessed a woman receive her hearing again since going deaf 3 years ago and another breathe God’s breath for the first time in her life.
Before we left Silchar on the 7th, I had read both the Mark and Ezekiel passage during my mornings and thought that both were super cool imageries. As the day ended for our first camp, I prayed for the first time that God would show me something that I have never seen before; this prayer becoming more bold until I was daring God to show up in a new way and bring me to my feet. (I know not the most conventional but I wanted to witness God doing something that I had confined only within scripture).
Her name was Nuing and she was 63 years old. She was brought into the prayer room and placed in the garden chair across from me. She didn’t make eye contact with me but looked up at the ceiling. When I asked my translator if I could pray for her, she told me that she had lost her hearing three years ago and motioned to her to take my hands and to close her eyes. As I started to pray for her I moved my hands to cover her ears and I started to pray that her ears be opened to hear God’s whisper. When I finished, neither of us moved from our seats and I sat looking at her looking at me, and then she spoke at a loud volume and said she could hear again. As the translator was asking her questions, the volume in her voice started to go down to a normal level and I was able to ask her if she knew who Jesus was.
“Yes, he healed me today.”
“I believe he did also, but he also wants to heal you and seal you as his eternally. And we can do that right now.”
“Yes, I want that.”
I held her hands again as she repented for the life she had lived without Jesus and asked him into life. I held her hands as we talked about the new life that was given to her in that moment, and together we laughed and cried together.
Her name was Subraiti and she was 27 years old and she was absolutely gorgeous. I told her that I would like to pray for in the name of Jesus for physical healing. She didn’t believe in Jesus but rather worshipped hindu gods. All I asked her was if she felt loved by her gods. She didn’t have an answer, so I asked if I could share who Jesus was and what he has done in my life. I had been recently asked by Zach our squad leader, if I could go back and tell adolescent anna anything to give me hope back when I didn’t have Jesus to keep going what would it be. “I would tell myself that there is a purer and truer love coming for me, and that this love is better than any other kind I had ever or will ever experience in my life.” I shared this with Subraiti and she said that she wanted to know this love and Jesus as her only God. When we had finished praying, she told me that she could breathe for the first time.
These are just two of the 24 stories of the people who received Christ in the 11 days we did 7 medical camps. We saw a multitude of people who received physical healing and if nothing else, God proved himself to be the only God in the land of gods.
