I feel like I am in Jurassic park and somewhere in the jungle awaits the “new and improved” t-Rex from the third movie.

Yup, this statement pretty much sums up what India looks like. It’s jungle green over dose, there are lychees, I found that out when I took a tumble down the hill in the mud before leading worship for the Sunday night service.

So much has happened and God has shown me so much during the two weeks our team traveled for the medical camps.

1. Humidity is a mind over matter game. Like my pop always said “if you don’t mind it, it doesn’t matter”.
2. I have a new appreciation for paved roads.
3. Body wash is better to wash your clothes with than a bar soap.
4. That I really do look like an Indian. As do my brother Ruben and my dad Marco, I saw look alikes of them.
5. Have the spirit of “one more”. One more sick, healthy, woman, man, child, plate of rice and chickpeas, one more everything. Serve one more, welcome one more. It’s one more way to be Jesus to those we meet.
6. BUG NETS!!!!!!!!! Bugs galore and you will find that tenting inside is the best.
7. Peeing on the side of the road, no big deal for 14 hour bus rides.
8. Coffee is so good, no I mean Nescafé instant.
9. Sharing the gospel is very easy, and most times you have to just jump into it.
10. REST!!!!!!!!!! Man this one is so important. Especially when you are with people all the time, rest when you can and when they give it to you. I was stubborn one day and convinced myself I would go to the camp the following day. I woke up and God made sure I couldn’t even get out of bed. Rest.
11. People are hungry for Jesus.
12. The Spirit will move you to walk and speak in ways you can’t even imagine.
13. Squatty potties. It’s such a good day when it’s a porcelain one and not just a hole.
14. B.Y.O.T.P- bring your own toilet paper. For real, if you ever find yourself in India, you’ll thank me for it.
15. Sleeping upside down with your legs in the air against the window is the most comfortable sleeping position for long bus rides.
16. NEVER lick your lips when driving, there will be a fine layer of dust.
17. God showed me that his people are lovely.
18. Don’t scratch your bug bites, you will scar.
19. Green chilies aren’t nearly as hot as the red, and if you can’t handle the heat, sugar helps. Just a spoonful.

You would think that some of these are common knowledge, but you really do just have to live them to realize it. India was sick, I loved each moment of it.
