Hello my name is Anna and I’m a do-aholic.
Or, I used to be. I’m walking in the redeemed of that. Over the past few years,
I have always done something. I made it a point to stay busy all the time.
Whether it was my 60-hour a week work schedule, on top of my classes, leading
numerous prayer hours, or opening up my own business, I never really allowed
time to rest. Most of the things I was involved in were good, legitimate things, but I honestly was so exhausted that I couldn’t give much to all of those things. My schedule was so packed by the things I was doing for God, that I didn’t have room for Him in my life.
I do believe that God has given us each
a specific inheritance. I honestly believe that the people, nations, desires,
and dreams that he puts on our hearts are specific for a reason. He has given
us these desires, because He has every intention of meeting them.
I know some
people say that if you don’t do it, God will raise up another person who will.
The problem with this thought is that one must wonder- what happened to that
other person’s first dream? I don’t believe that anyone is a bench warmer. I
don’t believe that God has people lined up to bat in case we decide to sit out
an inning. Our call is intentionally specific because God is intentionally
creative, and there will never be another person with the same gifts and
abilities that you have.
You are perfectly created for a perfect purpose, and a specific inheritance that you have to go after.

I think it’s important to go after your inheritance, but first,
you have to figure out what it is. Find the things that you are passionate
about, and ask God what He’s going to do with them. There are a million things
you can do in this world that are good, legitimate things, but that doesn’t
mean that it is supposed to be your thing.

A
wise man once told me, “It seems the only one without a Messiah complex is the
Messiah.”
Jesus only did the things that God told him to do. (John 17:4
I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.) Why do we think that it is up to us to save the world? If we all just passionately sought after the things that God has already given us, then the world would be changed. That’s why we need each other.

We need each other

One more thing that has really been on my heart: We have
already been given our inheritance. We have already been given the keys to the
kingdom, through Christ. We aren’t called to earn it. We aren’t called to save
1,000 people before we get into heaven. Or create a worship song, or find the cure
to cancer so we can earn our place in heaven. That’s not the point. Those are
things that happen along the way, but that is not the goal.

We are called to know who God is and who we
are, and to walk with Him in that identity. When we do that, when we fix our
eyes on Him, then the rest will come.

When
Paul said “all things are yours.” I believe Him.
1 Corinthians
3:21-23

so let no one boast in men. For all
things are yours,
whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life
or death or the present or the future—all are yours
,  and you are
Christ’s
, and Christ is God’s. I think this is one of my all-time favorite scriptures,
that gets overlooked by so many.

All things are ours. I believe that.

I
believe that the cure to cancer, and the cure to AIDS are yet to be discovered,
but it is in someone’s inheritance. I believe that Austin, TX is in someone’s
inheritance. I believe that the country of Montenegro is just waiting for
someone to open up their eyes and say, “Oh. Thanks, God.” I believe that every
country in this world is in someone’s inheritance. I believe that every secret,
every cure, every captive, everything is just sitting and waiting for someone to open their
eyes and realize that it’s been in their pocket this whole time.

I don’t think that my eyes are fully opened yet. Or maybe they’re just adjusting
to the light, because I’ve been in the dark so long. Either way, it’s an
exciting time to be alive. I can’t wait to see what’s in my inheritance, and
I’d love to hear about what is in yours.
