The other night, we had a women’s night at the church in Villa Tecci, the gyspy village I am staying. We want to speak empowerment into the women here, and encourage them in their faith. As worship was playing, my heart just broke for these women.
It’s hard being a woman in Romania. Your days are spent constantly cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children and the men in the village. They are the most selfless people I have ever met. They dutifuly listen to their husbands, and do all of this work without complaint. The work isn’t easy. Most of the women don’t have the luxuries of home like dishwasher, laundry machines, microwaves, etc, so simple tasks take much longer. The only personal time they have is bathing. Sanda bathes in a bucket. I have tried bathing in this bucket, and, believe me, it is not easy. Nor relaxing.
We wanted to bless this family, for being such a blessing to us, and we finally have an opportunity! They don’t have a bathroom here, so we thought we could just build them one! We want to set up the shower, and pipes for a toilet and sink to be put in later. It seems like such a strange idea, but can you imagine your life without a shower? All of my best ideas come when I’m in the shower. Business strategies,
papers, words from the Lord- there’s just something about the shower.
It’s the only place where I could be alone to collect my thoughts. The
only time for me to just relax.
I want Sanda to have a place to go to be able to relax. I want her to step into this shower and remember us, and the incredible God that loves her so much. All of this work will cost around 1500 lei ($500), but I’m only
responsible for one seventh of that ($71). Please pray for this
ministry!! I know many of you have so generously supported me, and I
cannot thank you enough. I don’t expect any of you to give more
because you have already given so much, but I really believe the Lord
is calling us to serve this family in this way, so if you feel led to
give, you can email me, and we can get it into my, or my teammate’s account. I will update
progress with pictures and such as the work is completed. Please pray
no matter what, it’s a big job, and will really bless the family if we
can do it right!
I’ll have access to internet on Monday! Can’t wait to hear from everyone.
