Part of my current job at CARITAS (the largest provider of homeless services in Richmond) allows me the opportunity to interact with some amazing men involved in the 5-week, job-readiness program called CARITAS Works. The students are living an intense recovery program and have been working on their recovery for a solid 6-9 months before entering the job-readiness portion. The small time I have with them is never less than utterly inspiring. I particularly find joy in attending what we call “Morning Motivations”: a time when we all gather in a circle, take turns answering the question of the day posed by one of the students, and then proceed to sing a song together led by whoever is answering the question at the time. Why yes, that is my idea of a splendid start to the day It was all I could do not to jump out of my chair when this morning’s questions was, “Where is your spirit?” “Through the rafters! Exploding with joy! Overflowing with God’s presence!” Those were just a few of the thoughts that swirled through my mind as I reflected on what my answer would be when it was my turn to share.

Bursting. Strong. Ready. Connected. Borderline overwhelmed! The Lord is so so good. Throughout this preparation process, I have felt a heightened sense of the Holy Spirit coursing through my being. After training camp, that feeling and awareness has only continued to increase at exponential rates. For as much as my human side is swayed by suggested lies about not being worthy for this mission, about not being able to meet financial deadlines, and countless other unfounded attacks- my Sweet Savior is already there lifting my heart and eyes to trust in His will and timing. It is just like the Father to continue to shower me with affirmations. This past weekend speaking at my home church was another glorious gift soaked in His abundant love. Feeling His presence is what my heart longs for- what my heart lives for; yet, that wasn’t even the best part. I was so (and continue to be) humbled by the response of this congregation. Watching their faith move in response to the words God spoke through me is a memory I will not soon forget. The moment after mass ended, people were immediately embracing me, offering me every possible kind of support from prayers and kind words to financial gifts. It is something truly special to see others light up and respond to the call on THEIR heart to join together in this journey. There were so many connections formed and conversations spoken that so clearly served to awaken hearts in this community. Even beyond those services, individuals continue to step out in faith to take part in the World Race through supporting me… Together we are going to storm the nations in the name of Christ’s love! Needless to say, after a weekend of those reactions, where is my spirit? Yet again, completely inebriated with the Presence.

“His love is sweet, His love is wild, and it’s waking hearts to life”

My sincere thanks to those who continue to support this calling of a lifetime. You are truly just as much a part of this journey as I am. God’s love is not just for some people, it’s for all people- so thank YOU for helping to bring the good news to the un-reached and lost children in this world!
