Beginning this blog reminds me of all those times when you start a new class, group, or team and everyone has to go around the circle and say their name and some interesting fact about yourself… the pressure!!
So, I’ll begin by saying thank you for visiting my blog and supporting me as I begin to navigate this journey of living faith! My name is Anna, and I’m from Richmond, VA… or RVA as is the latest cool thing to say 🙂 I was blessed with an amazing circle of family and friends who have shaped the person I am today. I think that relationships are among the highest value in life. Allowing my relationship with God to guide my interactions and relationships with others, opens the door to this amazing interconnection that we all have in being children of the one, true King. I am thrilled to build more relationships in His name around the globe.
I love to love. I love my family and friends fiercely. That includes my four legged baby girl, Lola! I love basketball- and most sports- and most anything that involves competition! I love being outside. Running, hiking, camping, swimming… I love to marvel at His creation. I love music. Folk, country, rock, reggae- I love it all.. it also happens to be one of my favorite forms of praise! I love working with people every day that humble me. I absolutely adore my Father in heaven, and I love that I am able to love because He first loved us.
I LOVED growing up in Richmond… gallivanting outside with the neighborhood kids (until 6pm.. you had to be in the house for dinner by 6pm or you were in BIG trouble!), hanging out on the rocks of the James River, playing sports (basketball is one of my great loves), asserting my independence as the youngest of 3 with 2 older brothers, family beach vacations, going to school dances and football games, hiking the many beautiful hills/mountains of VA, summer swim teams, concerts.. good friends and good times!
In 2010 I wrapped up 4 of the most life changing years I’ve ever had and graduated from Longwood University. Those 4 years saw me change and grow in some pretty major ways. I have loved Jesus my whole life. Yet, in those 4 years my idea of what that love meant matured, changed, and deepened in a way that is still overwhelming at times. Still, I just have to smile knowing that the creator of my soul knows what I need when I need it, and He has led me here to where He always knew I would be… it just took some time for me to catch on!
Since then, I have been working for a local Furniture Bank (think food bank, but we give out household goods for those who can’t afford it coming out of homelessness), and also working nights at a restaurant. God and I have been talking a long time about my calling to serve internationally, and He has been so patient. I know now I must “..not merely listen to the word, DO what it says” James 1:22
I am beyond excited for what God has placed in front of me for the next year and a half of my life. Stay tuned to hear the journey to come…
