So the first of May once again found us changing continents from Europe to Central America, with a 13 hour layover in New York in between! Yup I was that close to home! And yes, I got a free upgrade to grande at Starbucks!!! Yes please!

May in Honduras was a busy month. The beginning of the month found me with a new team- meet team En Fuego, so hot we’re on fire!!! Our ministry for the month was to find new contacts to host the World Race. So we didn’t have a specific place to stay for the month, instead the Holy Spirit was our contact!

The beginning of the month we decided we were going to avoid using Internet to research missionaries and places to stay, instead we depended on the Lord to lead us through other people. And we were so blessed by the people we met and the places we stayed.

First, we met Mama Gracie and Papa Lee. Not only do they rescue at risk women and children and give them a short term home, but they also loved us and poured into us in the short time that we were there.

Next, we stayed in Tegucigalpa for a few days and played many games of Settlers with our host (he is obsessed with the game).

At this point, our team split up for a week. Ashley went back to the states for her brother’s wedding and our fearless leader, Emily got really sick. So Emily and our squad leader, Katie stayed in Tegucigalpa and the rest of moved on to Siguatapeque. We had already made an acquaintance with Melissa and Sergio’s family there and they gave us a lovely place to stay. Lydia, is a young lady who works with them- we enjoyed hanging out with her and sharing a good cup of Honduran coffee!! We spent one day with them at their coffee plantation in the mountains where we fiercely attacked the weeds with a machete, chopped some wood, and enjoyed a great lunch and coffee cooked over the fire! After many meetings in this location, we realized it was time to move on to another city.

So we arrived in La Ceiba. Mama Marie kindly picked us up at the bus stop and gave us a place to stay in her children’s home with 18 kids. Wow, I am amazed how this woman can function- 18 kids is no small responsibility!!!

After a few days staying here and making many trips 15 km into town, we were offered a place to stay in El Porvenir. This great place was a gift of God. Not only is it a nice house with privacy, but did I mention- it is also on the beach!!!

We had so many great adventures in Honduras, and one day in particular was a grand adventure!! My team mate, Nick and I hitchhiked up the mountain to meet Jason. We didn’t really know how to get there- but no problem, we got there! Jason was gone to the states, but we got a great tour of the place and got to meet some of his staff.

All in all, May was a great month. Keep your eyes open for my next blog- Reasons I want to go back to Honduras!!!
