Dear Twila,

Ok… so what just happened?!?

We just saw each other on a random flight to Ethiopia!!

Seriously, am I dreaming? Or did this really just happen?!

Wow, just wow!

There are no words to describe how crazy and ridiculous this is! So remember the last 2 months when we were going crazy trying to figure out some way to see each other, even to spend a few hours together. Like seriously… we were only a country away from each other, but somehow it seems like all our plans to hang out were defeated.

I know I was angry at God a few times. I yelled at God the time I realized that you were in Kampala at the same time I was, and I got your message a few days after you left because I didn’t have internet access. I didn’t understand why God would allow to be so close and yet so far!

But yet- He was planning a little surprise package for us! Now you have officially seen me speechless and in tears (and not fake tears, like when I tried to squeeze some out when I dropped you at the airport- exactly 1 year and 1 month ago)!

So when I missed seeing you in Uganda, I was super disappointed, and one of my team mates was super encouraging. He said ‘God doesn’t take things from us just to disappoint us, but because He has something better for us’. Sometimes we have to miss out on awesome things on earth (like seeing you in Kampala), but in heaven I can spend all the time I want hanging out with you. (And just think, Twila, when we hang out in heaven- everything will be perfect! We will never be late for anything… we will never have to wake up at the ‘butt crack of stupid’… we will never drive in the ditch :0… we will never lock our keys in the car or drop them down a manhole!!! Our electronics will have no issues, or better yet, are completely unnecessary… we can eat as much bacon and chocolate as we want… and we will run marathons with no effort!)

And yes, this is awesome to think about all the ‘deep’ quality time we can share in heaven, but I still just wanted to spend time with you now! And guess what!! God had a whole other plan. It’s like He wrecked all our plans, just to show us that He is in control and can do abundantly more than we can even imagine!

Spending time with you on the plane was the most precious gift I could have received! You know, sometimes I miss home and just seeing you and reminiscing was seriously the most amazing gift ever!!

Girl, I love you to the moon and back!

Xoxo- Anna
