A question that has been on my mind for some time is “why, why God are you sending me across the world to serve you when I struggle to serve you here.” I keep wondering and asking if I am even good enough or worthy enough to go on this mission, to represent My Lord in these countries. Do I have the knowledge and the abilities to help others, serve others and care for others.

With that, I was having a conversation with my pastor (@ PD) this past Sunday and he said something that really stuck with me, he said ” we just obey God” simple as that. Something that has been said to us so many times as children, “Obey the Lord your God” something that every Sunday school teacher, every parent and every follower of God has drilled into our heads growing up, you think it would be simple just to “obey God” right?! Yet most of the time we do the complete opposite. Instead of obeying God, we question God, we fight God, we try to challenge God, we think we know better than God, we ask God “why.”

In Jeremiah 7:23 it says, ” But this command I gave them: ‘Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that is may be well with you.”

In Deuteronomy 27:10 it says, ” You shall therefore obey the voice of the Lord your God, keeping his commandments and his statues, which I command you today.”

In Exodus 19:5 it says. ” Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine.”

Those are just a few of the many verses that talk about obedience and obeying God in the Bible and with those I realized it doesn’t matter what I think, whether I believe if I’m good enough or ready. I can ask God why a thousands times, but in the end, I, as a lover and follower of Christ need to obey God. I need to drop my desires, my fears, my worries and my complaints and just obey. He has called me to leave and serve Him for nine months, and that is exactly what I am going to do.

On a somewhat related topic, this Sunday PD preached on giving, and he opened with showing a video called “We give” and for me it just reaffirmed why we go on missions trips: to give. Now the video refers to the giving of money, but I think you can take it and relate it to the giving of time, of love, of things. I just wanted to share this with you so that you can relate it to what is going on in your life and maybe see where God is calling you to give.
