Distractions:

They are everywhere! Being on the race God has taught me so much about myself, the way I should be walking through life, and the world. I/we [all] want to be in touch with our family and friends back in America. Sometimes I get so caught up in keeping up that I forget to look up or listen up to what God wants to tell me Truthfully, sometimes I check Facebook before I take time with Lord as I start my day. Even while on the race I have rarely been without access to internet, which is in itself a major distraction. It's not JUST because we are American. As I have traveled I have noticed that the people in all of the countries we have visited are just as attached to their devices and social media. We live in societies worldwide that are distracted by our telephones, computers, and other devices.
One of the big distractions over these last few months is the future:
A few months ago I started to think about what kind of jobs I would like to apply for and to see what is available. I started to get distracted and spend a lot of our off time looking at jobs and pondering what I would like to apply for. However, I felt like God was telling me to wait until Month 8 (April). April came and before I could even look for jobs my former employer sent me an email and offered me my former position as their nanny; full time for a few weeks and part time for the school year. So now I can stay focused on the race and what is happening here; growing in The Lord, partnering with awesome ministries, and building relationships with our ministry partners and my teammates.
God wants us to stay in the present! He has told us to not worry about tomorrow, He has it all under control.
What are your distractions? What are your priorities? Are you putting God first?
