There are days when discouragement creeps in, just as a few days ago I started to let a lot of little things really bother me, in particular being single. I noticed within a span of just a few days several engagements and new relationships were announced via face book. (You know that whole it's not official until it's on face book thing.) I started to feel left out, lonely and a bit jealous. I had to spend a lot of time praying this through, and trusting God's love. I know that God has it all worked out and that HE is in control. There are times when I want to intervene and jump ahead of His plan, rather than catching up to what HE already has in process.
The next day the song His eye is on the sparrow was on my mind. The theme of the song is inspired by two scriptures: Matthew 6:26, "Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" And Matthew 10:29-31, "Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear you not therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows."
I am so thankful that God has given us this scripture to remind us how much HE cares about us, and that we need to constantly remember (even in times of discouragement) to trust HIS love.
