World Race Recap (Part 1)

I’m not even going to pretend like I know how to recap the last year. I’m not going to come close to what it entails through a few comments either. I believe I would need months of processing and writing to attempt to do so, however, as a glimpse I wanted to put together a few pictures from each country I visited and a brief description of what I did:

11 countries, 11 months, 1 backpack, 1 tent and a serious lack of personal hygiene.

11 months of living in poverty, 11 ministries, and 1 fractured heart from an amazing,

soul-searching year.

  1. Lezhe, Albania: Jumping around a summer kids camp with poverty-stricken children from the mountains (sponsored to go to this camp). Archery, swimming, games, bounce house, and resurfacing my wild side. Our whole squad of 50 people were together and our few free days were spent at the Mediterranean Sea, hiking and exploring castle ruins.

  1. Bankya/Sofia, Bulgaria: My small team of 6 was paired with one other team. We vastly switched around ministries consisting of a kid’s art camp, painting and cleaning churches, digging trenches, riding tons of buses and metros and attending a “whole latta church meetings.” This was once of my most difficult months, as I struggled with my purpose on being on the Race.

  1. Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Brasov, Târgu Mures, SinTesti,Romania: My first “Unsung Heroes” month, or finding ministry contacts for future World Race teams to visit. We lived in slums with gypsies, helped other missionaries, spent time with a YWAM team, and explored Romania in its great beauty. At the end of Romania, I was chosen to be a team leader for a new team in route to India.
