Kathmandu Nepal. Somehow in this crazy life plan of God’s I landed here in a café. I wasn’t sure I’d ever hear myself say the words “in a café” again on the World Race. This in itself is nothing short of a Hallelujah. Excuse my French, but to me, India was nothing short of a Hellhole. Dirty and stinky water to bucket shower in, bugs, rats, snakes, chickens, cockroaches…. Everywhere. Let’s not forget about the short leash my contact kept us on. Forget about any sense of freedom and envision all of your free time spent wasting away in a cement church including all of the things mentioned above for a whole month.
India, I regret to tell you I will not miss you. I plan on visiting the TajMahal during a layover before I die, but that’s about it.
But that all doesn’t matter now. Now I’m in Nepal and things are good. Right now, I’m eating a sandwich.
Yes, a sandwich.
Music to my taste buds. I know that doesn’t make sense but I don’t even care. This is a sandwich of wheat bread, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, ham, cheese, mayo and the glory of God included. (If you read my blog about sandwiches earlier, you might have a better understanding of what is happening right now). Long story short, I might be experiencing a romantic connection between myself and this sandwich. My last month cursing over dripping oil chapati (looks like a tortilla… but see-through due to the access of oil), and visions of chicken (the WHOLE chicken cut into pieces, minus the feathers … sometimes), is all melting away with each bite of this sandwich.
Right now, I’m in Kathmandu and it is gorgeous. Mountains and beautiful people. It’s not just a safe haven from my horrible memories of India, it is ‘sandwich-down’ my favorite place yet. I could live here.
Seriously.
Now starts another month of ministry. Unsung Heroes again. Man, am I blessed. Simply relishing in God’s grace of my previously horrible month. For anyone that doesn’t remember, Unsung Heroes is traveling around the country on your own schedule finding good people doing great things for God. We are the publicity for them to America, to connect them to future World Race teams and hopefully get more donations to go towards their cause to continue to do their good things.
Jackpot. This month is going to be awesome.
Unsung Heroes is something most people on the Race crave to do. A huge adventurous blessing and only one team gets to do it per month. I’m the only person on the Race that is doing Unsung Heroes for the second month-most people have yet to do it. I’m not sure why I’m receiving such an awesome reward, but I’m thankful. So thankful.
If anyone knows of ministry contacts in Nepal, let us know. We’d love to meet up with them.
Peace and blessings to everyone. I miss you guys.
Anna
