Yesterday I arrived in Brasov, Romania after a long couple of days. The travel itself was only one 11-hour bus ride-probably my easiest travel day yet.
The funny thing about God is when you ask him for something to do and some sort of purpose, he gives it to you, but definitely not in any sort of way you expected. About a day in advance, I found out I was one of the people in charge of getting myself and 40 squadmates to Brasov, Romania as our hard working team leaders and logistics team (normally in charge of the details), are allowed a couple days off every few months.
This included finishing things off with the current ministry contacts, online forums, preparing passport numbers/lists, getting all of the World Race teams from Serbia to our ministry location in Bulgaria- where we would leave from one point to Romania, contacting/paying the bus driver, etc. Suddenly, I was very busy.
There were definitely some hiccups, such as the Serbia teams getting on a train they were told was going to Bulgaria but ended up in Macedonia, having them turn around, get on a new train which only took them to the border of Serbia and Bulgaria, walk across to border into Bulgaria (can you imagine the site with all of their packs on) and pray like crazy for a way to get them to Sophia where we were located. There were no options at that time of night to transport them to Sophia, so they prayed, we prayed, and the first random pedestrian they asked had a bus which could fit everyone and take them to Sophia. God is so good.
When my squadmates got to my location in Sophia I felt like a mother that hasn’t seen her children in months. I was so relieved and filled of happiness to hug each of them. Early the next morning we boarded the bus and easily made the 11-hour trip to our hostel in Brasov (which looks like an exact replica of an Ikea magazine). We have 3 more days in Brasov before we start ministry again. Another blog about what my team will be doing this month is coming soon.
