Where do I begin to explain the things that happened this week? I went to World Race Training Camp not knowing what to expect, so all I expected was to meet my new squadmates. Boy was I in for a surprise! God showed up in big and unexpected ways. I was pushed beyond my limit, I had my mind opened and saw God in a whole new light.
It all started on Friday July 18th. I boarded a plane to Atlanta and arrived to heat and humidity. I met a fellow Squadmate, Kristen, and we ventured out into the world to stay in the apartment of another very generous squadmate, John Michael. Right away the generosity of the people in my squad was already starting to overwhelm me. The following day we arrived at the airport and met the rest of K Squad, and so it began. I never realized that I could change in the manner of a few days, but I did. God showed up at training camp in amazing and big ways. Our squad became a family from the first day! We stood by each other, uplifted each other, and God blessed us all with the people he surrounded us with. God showed up on the night half of us “lost” our stuff and the other members of the squad offered up their tents to us without a moment’s hesitation. God showed up in the evening talks, taking over our hearts and souls. God showed up on the night we slept in a bus, and sang worship songs, prayed together, and survived the night on the shoulders of our friends. God showed up in prayer groups when we all opened up to each other in ways we never had before. God showed up late one evening when our team spent an hour praying over our brother in Christ, and God moved through our group, sharing his love.
What did I learn at Training Camp? God is real, and lives, and has a big plan! This week God exposed parts of myself that I had shoved down way low, and he brought them back to the surface and reassured me that he knows it all, and he is there to comfort me. He told me that I am his daughter, and He is proud of me! He is so proud of me, and that is the best lesson of all. He used the people he placed in my life last week to speak words of encouragement and to squash every lie I was ever told about myself! I am a child of God! He is proud of me! I am who I am because of HIM and through HIM I will live my life to the fullness He has for me! God has my life written out for me! I cannot wait to see what plans he has for this coming year! I cannot wait to live life with the amazing girls of Team Reptar, and I cannot wait to be apart of the bigger picture! God is Good, ALL the time!
