As promised, here is a continuation of my team’s month searching out Unsung Heroes in Costa Rica. Without the pictures I’d intended, as there is no wifi here. Next time!

After a week in San Jose, my team left to visit Faithful Servant Missions (FSM) in San Ramon (www.faithfulservantmissions.org). FSM is located just above a neighborhood of displaced Nicaraguans. Many of the people live in very poor housing. One of the projects that FSM previously hosted blew my mind. Over the course of a weekend, a team of about 200 Mexicans came in and built better housing for several families on a piece of donated FSM land. Larry’s Village is named in honor of Cheryl’s husband who had passed away a few years piror. Cheryl is the director of the ministry and one of my favorite people whom we met in Costa Rica. I took advantage of our free time to chat with her and hear about her heart for ministry in her corner of San Ramon. The ministry also hosts a school for the local children. Teams that come through receive the opportunity to sponsor one of the children to go to school for a year. A church also meets in the multipurpose room each week. The pastor and his family live onsite and have a huge heart for the youth of the neighborhood.

We were at FSM the same time as a high school group from Georgia. Many of the students knew of the World Race and expressed interest in going when they are of age. The youth minister was also very excited to meet a World Race team, as she knows others on and connected to the Race. We were blessed by our time with the Georgia team as well as being able to tell them more about the World Race. Some of their enthusiasm rubbed off on us and gave us a boost of energy to continue well. FSM was definitely a hard ministry to leave when the time came!
