WOOHOO!!! Praise the Lord for all He has done financially and relationally in my life over the past couple months!

I am almost at my $10,000 deadline, which I have to have by December 16th. I know the Lord is going to continue to bring in the funds in His timing. I am continually BLOWN AWAY by the generosity of people in my life as well as their desire to partner with me in bringing God’s Kingdom to earth.

About 3 weeks ago I went to training camp for the race. It lasted 10 days and was on the Adventures in Missions campus. We stayed in our two person tents most nights but had various sleeping scenarios which challenged us and encouraged team bonding. For example, one afternoon we paired up with another person of the same gender from our squad. We had to choose one of us to be an elephant and one of us to be a giraffe. The scenario was that it was a travel day and the airline had lost the giraffe’s backpacks. So the elephant had to share their tent and belongings. That night was a bit colder than normal so I don’t know if anyone really got any sleep, but we did learn the importance of body heat! 🙂

Some lessons I learned from training camp:

-We are not going on a missions trip this next year, we are starting now to live missionally for the rest of our lives.

– Roasted crickets just taste like salty potato chips with a little extra crunch.

– Jesus wants to be my friend no matter what season of life I am in. He is constantly pursuing me.

– Bucket showers aren’t bad unless it’s cold and the wind is blowing.

– Dirt can be used as glitter.

– 3 people in a two person tent is the most comfortable thing when it is freezing cold outside.

– Our whole squad are beasts! We all hiked 3 miles with our 50 lb. packs in under 50 minutes!

– We are the church. We are called to journey together in unity, approaching all in love and humility. We go out seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit and “men of peace” (Luke 10)

Thank you again for partnering with me, may the Lord be your strength and encouragement today! 🙂
