I tell you what, there is something about this time of year that I really and truly miss. I don’t know who all is reading my blog and who isn’t so please allow me to give you some background. After college I spent two years at living at home and I had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to participate in women’s Bible study at my church (1PGE!). The women of my church are incredible, and downright inspiring. We are a group of women of all stages of life and these women are so filled with patience and wisdom, and they instilled in me so much wisdom and inspired me to continue in my journey of Godly patience. These women operate in 3rd gear most of the time, sometimes during the summer they get to downshift into 2nd, but during the school year they are in 3rd, making chaos into an organized schedule. They manage practice, rehearsals, lessons, cooking, homework and the never- ending laundry and not to mention jobs, all at once. Some of these stunning women are blessed to be grandmothers, so you would think they’ve slowed down, (HA!) there’s comities, clubs, plays, games, recitals, cooking and still laundry. During this time of year they kick it into 4th gear add on, baking, planning a big party/celebration for God only knows how many will show up, shopping (OH MY GOSH SHOPPING). During this time of year I have seen even the biggest shopping enthusiast lose joy in it. They shop for their family, their extended family, their in-laws, co-workers, friends, decorations, groceries and presents, holy smokes presents. Men may run the world, America may run on Dunkin’, but the world runs on women. I had, and now through memory still have, the pleasure of getting to take part in one of God’s lesser talked about miracles during this time of year.
For one hour a week I would get to be with these women as they took an hour to be with and learn about our Heavenly Father. I would get to see as the worries and anxieties of this time of year melted away and revealed the joy and peace of the season. We would pray, drink coffee and discuss The Word. To see their passion for Him, for His Son, His Spirit and what They are doing in their lives was nothing short of awesome. The passion for their faith and camaraderie among one another would draw the Holy Spirit into that place and I could feel each of us abide in it. Such an honor, I miss it. So this blog goes out to my Mom, the woman whom brought me to that Bible study, and to all the women who give, and give, and give during this time of year. God bless you and keep you in this season. To the women of my church, Thank you so very, very much for all that you taught me, and for never disregarding my opinion because of my age. I love you and miss you all very much.
Mom, thank you so much for all that you’ve done for me. Thank you for showing me what Christ’s love looks like in a woman through your sacrificial love and desire for Him. I love you and am so blessed to have you as my Mom.
