Kabayo=Horse in Tagalog. We each were given a team of kids from the area, Peter's were the pandas, Sara's were the tigers, Jessica's the spiders, Francis' the lions, and Raquel's the gorillas. The amount of children that were there was unbelievable. The games were named (realistically so) things like "Human Ambulance) Where one of the kids sits in the hammock as two or so other kids carry them and the others follow as fast as they can up and over the mountain on a trail made of fallen palm trees, prickly brush, barbed wire and rocks, and oh yeah did I mention that was on a mountain. Mountain. My team was a group of incredible children who were, like me, laid back and more focused on getting a good laugh out the day instead of winning or competing. Though we did get pretty competitive at "Sumo" kids step into two huge water inner-tubes and run at each other hoping to knock one another out of the ring. I'll tell you exactly how it was, hysterical. There's really no other word. My herd of colts/foals, not really full grown horses yet, and I would cheer like crazy, but only at this event. We did well at "Pass the Sand" exactly what it sounds like (pass sand down a line by hand, whoever has the most in the bucket at the end of 2 minutes wins) "Catch the Worm", not what it sounds like. These aren't your average everyday come out of the ground earth when it rains earth worm. These are stout, round, grayish white, external thin shell and a couple of stubby legs in the front and back, as Raquel says, "Pretty squishy". The kids, picked them up with their toes and ran them from one bucked to the next. This leader did not follow her team into this event. I did the "Flip-Flop Flip" and tried to flick off my flip flop through a hoop, I tried to race down the mountain, one day I'm sure I'll have to pick up a worm with my toes, that's inevitable, but it's one experience I want to delay for as long as possible. My group more as different schools let out, it was great to really be in and among the energetic and warm kids of this area. We spent several hours running around from event to event, we won one of them, which one I'm not all too sure, but most importantly we had some great laughs. God reminded me that like them I need to have faith like a child, to not worry about what the world defines as success or even as normal. The world as we know it is a fleeting thing, in a constant state of change, while God's desire for us to live a fully His will, is something that perpetuates time. Thank you so very much for reading. Pray for my team and squad please. I miss you all!!!
