Pounding the pavement of San Jose, Star Tripping with Tikos, and other stuff

I don’t know how to but this month into words all i know is this month in Costa Rica has been a wonderful blessing to me. I am quite certain that I have never met a collective group of cooler people in one place in my life. The people that my team and I have gotten to work with here at Zoe Church have ministered to me so much; in the way that they worship, how the listen to the call of the Holy Spirit, there hospitality and sense of community, and there approach to living out their walk with Jesus.

Here are two Stories that stand out this month.

Pounding the Pavement
If you have ever wondered where the “hipster movement” started let me tell you that it all started at New Life New Glory in San Jose, Costa Rica. Such an awesome group of people. My team and I had the chance to go to their Saturday night service last weekend. Enter in the story of the lone kankle and aching right foot. Two weeks after falling off the latter my ankles had not really improved, I was getting frustrated and ready to try getting an x-ray. During worship, the worship leader started talking about healing. I knew that God could heal my feet if He wanted to but I was not sure if the timing was His will. My teammates Bug and Jenn then began to pray for healing in my feet. The dull ache was still there but i felt like despite that it was time to run. It started out rough and painful but the more I ran the less pain I felt in my feet. We went around the block four times… each time feeling a little bit better. Jesus was working in my feet. Now every time I run they feel a little bit looser and more normal. It might be a slow process but Jesus is putting them back together and Im trusting Jesus for that.

Star tripping with Tikos
You know those moments in life that you realize that you never knew it, but you had been waiting your whole life for something to happen? Last night was one of those nights. It started off with Costa Rican BBQ made by Charlie and his mom, wonderful people making tasty food, always a good combination. Bug then led us in a quality game of star tripping. For those of you who do not know what this is, mostly it is getting people really dizzy and watching them fall over. The joy and laughter of our new found friends was contagious. We then ended the night with a hike down to the River filled with more jokes and laughter. It is such a blessing, laughter and food really do fill the soul. I need to add more adjectives to my vocabulary someday but for now we will just say it was a great night.

Other Stuff
We have been given the chance to be a part of so many great ministries this month. Here is what we have done.
Taught English classes every Tuesday and Friday at the church.
Visited a boys home on three occasions to hang out and teach them english.
Went up the mountain to an elderly home to spend time with the people there.
Spent some time at the hospital praying for the sick and drawing with the kids there.
Did work around the school getting it ready for the next semester.
Spent time with and Fed the homeless in San Jose
Took part in youth group and amazing church services.
My favorite ministry of the month was today when we were able to go talk to and share with the boys at the jail. We got to share with them about our stories and tell them about the Grace and Truth of Jesus. So Good.

Each one of these events is filled with stories from team members of how the Holy Spirit moved in the person that they were with and in their own hearts.

Costa Rica has truly been grand.

To it I say

Pura Vida
(the pure life).

I thank God for this first month of the race and all that we have gotten to see him do in our own hearts and in the hearts of others. Please continue to pray for Costa Rica and the Amazing work that God is doing here.

Know that this blog does not do the month Justice but that it was undeniable that Jesus was here in San Pedro with us.

Much Loves
