Costa Rica, Wolf T’s, Grilled Cheese, and falling ladders…
A blog on finding God’s grace and blessings in Costa Rica World Race
Week Uno…
Costa Rica
What an amazing and beautiful place to begin the World Race. The sunshine and palm trees are an inviting contrast to the below zero weather of Montana.
My team and I are living and working at the Glory Christian School in San Pedro. While we are here we get the chance to come along side there ministry’s and meet some truly amazing people of God. The people from this congregation have ministered to me so much this week by their passion for Jesus and desire to share the word of God. This week has included Church services, a wedding, playing soccer in the park (some skills that I need to work on), helping the pastor move into his new house, a prayer walk at the park, teaching English classes to the kids (more like my learning Spanish classes), cleaning and painting at the school, shared amazing time of worshiping, visiting the home of a wonderful family for lunch and a bibles study, and jam packed with so many other things. I can’t wait to see what will follow a great first week on the race.
Wolf T’s
I am so blessed be on an amazing squad of people. They are real, beautiful, and full of a passion to share Christ love across the world; and do crazy things. Crazy thing number one sign up for this thing called the World Race. Number Two, embracing Wolf T Wednesday. A tradition that for me started at Clydehurst Christian Ranch. It includes this: Wearing the most epic wolf T shirt you can find and wearing it on Wednesday. May we always be a wolf pack no matter where we are in the world. Thank you “M” squad for making that a real thing and loving me.
Grilled Cheese.
Cooking for my team in an outdoor kitchen with food from an open market in the beautiful country of Costa Rica… all I can say folks is that dreams come true. I love the opportunity to be working with Jenn as the food people on my team. The last meal I had with my family in Montana was grilled cheese sandwiches and the first meal that I made for my team here. I did not think I would have one for a year but God shows His goodness though strange things.
Falling ladders
I have found a lot of God’s grace in the fact that I fell off a ladder this week. Or rather that a ladder fell with me on it. To start I magically found a way to land on both my feet; if there is a good way to ride down a falling ladder Jesus made sure I landed it. I did however walk away with some very sore feet and ankles. But God’s grace is evident in that as well as it forced me to face my weaknesses. I have been forced to learn to ask for and accept the help of my team mates. I have also been forced to live life in the slow lane for the last few days, not something that I enjoy very much. But Jesus has a funny way of teaching lessons when your walk becomes a waddle. The more stubborn you are to learn a lesson the harder you fall. Let just say this is not the first time in the last few weeks that gravity has gotten the better of me when I was trying to do many things at once. Jesus is teaching me to slow down and listen to Him. I am on the mend and did a victory strut yesterday when I was able to almost walk like a normal person.
Thank you so much for all the prayers.
Pray that we get to see the Holy Spirit move in amazing ways this week as we get to continue to minister to the community.
Also Shout out to our Ministry Contact Katie who is an amazing Women.
P.S. Sorry for the lack of pictures folks I'll work on that next week.
Psalm 34
I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 I will glory in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
