Here are some good things I’ve been learning while here in Atlanta finishing up my training before leaving for the World Race.

We were told that if we want to be successful during this experience ( and these are good for Christians in general) we need to:

1) Be willing to grow and change (pretty self explanatory)

2) The presence of God. In other words the presence of God goes with us wherever we are but we also need to seek the manifest presence of God in the places that we are going to ministry.

3) Positive attitude. (Also pretty self explanatory)

4) Healthy community. We need to work hard on not holding grudges or gossiping about others. In this particular program that I am working with we are expected to go and talk to someone we have a problem within 24 hours. We are held accountable if we try to talk to others about someone behind their back.

We also spent time in training learning the importance of not doing things simply to please others. Since we are already approved of and loved by God trying to please everyone is not something we should spend time worrying about.

One of the last lessons concerned that fact that as Christians we are called to help bring the kingdom of God to earth now not in some distance future.

One of our activities involved going into the neighborhood near our hotel and seeking opportunities to simply engage people and see if we could pray for them. This lead to some great encounters that left us blessed in addition to meeting some great people who said they were encouraged in meeting us.

All this to say that this is just a glimpse of what we (me and my squad) will be doing and experiencing while doing the World Race.

I would appreciate all your prayers for the following:

  • Safe travels. We leave Atlanta on September 10 and will be flying to the Philippines.
  • We will be working with Kids International Ministries in Manila. Please pray for the work being done here.
  • That there would be strong community among my team and squad as we begin this journey.
  • Health and safety so that we may serve others undistracted.

Thank you all for your continued prayer and support.
