ἀλήθεια

Aletheia is the Greek word for truth.  It is not being hidden; the state of being evident.  This is the name that my team has chosen for the year.  We have committed to being truthful and honest with each other.  Aletheia goes beyond simple honesty.  It it learning to expose our true selves to the other members of our team, so we can bring Truth to the nations.

We have chosen the following as our verse for the year:

“Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God.  On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves  to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”  2 Corinthians 4:2

Our name reminds us to always be truthful with each other, and that the first time we sense conflict or are having a moment of weakness or a personal crisis, we will remember who we are, and communicate with our team.  We are committed to opening up completely to each other, and putting all of our ‘stuff’ out on the table early in this process.  We know that without honesty and truth with each other, we can’t spread truth to the world.

We are six warriors traveling
the world for Christ
and we are

ἀλήθεια!

PS: Many thanks to Dr. Ron Walburn (one of our trainers this week) for introducing the concept of an ‘aletheia’ life.
