No. Not me.  I am the opposite of trendy.  My friends at home would laugh at that
description of me.  Trendy is up to
date… fashionable.  Trendy people
actually care what others think about them.  Not that I don’t care how I look… I just don’t care if I
have all the right ‘stuff’.

            And
yet… I find myself in the midst of what I will refer to as a trendy storm.  I am sitting in Panera, snagging some
free wi-fi, working on my trendy little white MacBook.  I am wearing a cute (or so I think) flowy
white skirt and top, with a pair of cork-wedge white sandals.  I have my artsy, small, square, black-rimmed
glasses on, and my hair is pulled off my face with a claw-clip.  My natural complexion is hidden under
no less than six all-natural environmentally-friendly make-up products.  Somehow, this seems to meet the current definition of trendy.  And still… I think I can say with conviction that I am not trendy.

            Because
my clothes do not define me.  My
‘stuff’ does not define me.  My
make-up does not define me.  It is
what I believe that defines me.  I
believe in Jesus.  I believe He was
born of a virgin.  That He was God
incarnate.  That He lived a life
without sin.  That He was persecuted
and died on the cross.  That He was
buried and three days later, He rose again.  He defied death, but in dying, He set me free.  I am a Christian.  And being a Christian in America today
is anything but trendy.
