If you remember back a couple weeks ago I talked about some children who have really touched my heart. Especially a little boy, about the age of 2, named Andri. For 2 weeks I did not see him smile. He was often crying and would not join in with any games or activities. I have been praying for him and have asked that you all would pray for him. My heart simply wanted to see him enjoying life the way that a 2 year old should.
So one evening last week a few of us girls took pizza to this family’s house. It was interesting because they had never eaten pizza before, some liked it others didn’t care for it. We had to show them how to hold it to eat like we do, a lot of fun and laughs. During this, Andri was hiding behind a chair and I decided to pull a “cross cultural” classic from my magical hat of games, Peek – a – Boo! This was perfect for warming his heart and gaining his trust. Within moments he was smiling, laughing and wanting me to chase him.
I ran around for an hour straight with him. I was ready to throw up because I started all this running too soon after 2 pieces of pizza but it was worth it. I saw life begin to spring from his soul as we played together. When it was time for us to leave he cried and cried. He wanted to go with me. That night I praised God for breakthrough in Andri’s life. I was talking with his aunt and she explained that he has been this way since the earthquake. He has been traumatized, but she saw how he was able to be himself that night. I go back frequently to play with him and each time I go it takes less time for him to warm up to me. And still every time I leave, he cries. The family says i must be his mom because of the way he cries for me. I just love this kid. I am so encouraged that he now lets me hold him and tickle him. In less words Jesus is doing the playing and he is being healed in the process! Thank you all for your prayers, Andri is receiving your blessing!
