Now, on to answering your top 4 questions…
How was your trip!!!??
What was your favorite country?
My trip was great and I have a lot of favorite countries it just depends what you’re basing “favorite” off of i.e.: scenery, ministry, people, food…) My top 4 are Nicaragua, Philippines, Kenya, and Swaziland. You'll have to talk to me to get a more detailed answer
How is it being back in the U.S.?

(how it feels to be home)
Being back? Well, I won’t lie it was pretty terrible at first. But even through the tears and confusion and tiredness the Lord showed up OVER and OVER and OVER!
I was so blessed that for my 1st week home I was hosted by a wonderful WR Alumni family. I was blessed with the most comfortable mattress I had slept on in 11 months and DELICIOUS Nicaraguan food. I had the privaledge of hearing Spanish again and trying to translate it in my head as people spoke!!! They welcomed me into their home and family, they encouraged me, they listened to me and then they sent me into the world with a full spirit. Oh, did I mention they were strangers until I met them in their home? That’s a story you can ask me about later.
After being incredibly blessed I came to Ohio, where I avoided everyone, ignored facebook, and freaked out a little…OK I freaked out a lot! But before I had time to recover I was on a bus to Texas.
In Texas I visited my cousins who I missed dearly this year! While in Texas I got a random e-mail from a stranger who is thinking about doing the race and he wanted to talk to me about it (keep in mind, nobody knows I’m home. My friends all think I’m still in Africa). One of my friends from Ohio, who thought I was still in Africa, gave him my name. I assumed the guy was from Ohio and told him “I would love to talk but I won’t be back in Ohio for 2 weeks.”
The Lord had plans
He messaged me back and said “I don’t live in Ohio. I am from Texas…. Austin Texas” (insert sci-fi sound effect)
I just so happened to be in Austin, Texas!! It was a divine appointment. First the Lord provided encouragement and comfort, now he was putting someone in front of me who wants me to blab on and on about the race. (which is the only thing on my mind at the time. I was going crazy to share with SOMEONE)
Finally, on the way home from Texas I sat next to an older man on the GreyHound bus. He didn’t speak English but it turns out that my broken Spanish is understandable and we had a good conversation about his life! As we were getting off the bus he handed me about $8 for no apparent reason. I was confused as to why he thought I needed it. He just said I know you need this and he wouldn’t let me give it back.
Before leaving Texas I was a bit worried about how I was going to eat and afford gas to drive home because I didn’t want to borrow from my sister and I only had $2 left in my purse. Throughout that day the Lord reminded me that he knows my needs and worries. I didn’t need to worry about a thing.
Before leaving Texas my cousin unexpectedly gave us money to help get through the trip home and then this random man gave me $8. I never asked or had intentions of asking any person for help but without asking I had $38 in my pocket at the end of the day which was just enough to eat meals on the way home and get some groceries and gas for the week…. I don’t know about you but I do NOT normally walk around in my day-to-day life with people handing me things I need. It was God, the only person I needed to ask was my Father in Heaven.
So, to answer question 3 being back is great and terrible it’s joyous and stressful it’s a hurricane of events and emotions but it’s great and I’m trusting the Lord with every moment I have.
What are your plans now?
Wait, I’m supposed to have a plan??!!
Currently, my plans are kind of play-it-by-ear I plan to start by working. I want to live in Columbus for a bit before I go back overseas but currently I’m kind of everywhere and nowhere. I need a place to live while I earn money to afford a place to live. Soooo, if you have extra space anywhere that I could stay it would be a huge blessing to get an e-mail or text from you. E-mail [email protected] or text 937-407-1229.
Beyond getting back on my financial feet I have lots of Kingdom dreams and it just depends what the Lord wants to do.
Some of my ideas and dreams include:
- Return to South Africa for LXP discipleship and Leadership School
- Finish my education degree
- Lead short term trips to some places I visited this past year
- Begin a child sponsorship and learning program in one of the places I visited
