My Grandma is a huge part of my life. She’s always been there. Growing up I looked forward to spending my summer with her hanging out at the museum; coloring, running copies, giving tours, cleaning, and running errands to the nearby post-office, grocery store, and bank. I even remember times when I stayed home from school sick and she would come over with sherbet. As I went through middle school circumstances arose allowing me to move in with her and my grandpa, leading to an already started lifelong friendship!
Sadly, a year after seeing me graduate from high school she passed away. My whole world was flipped upside down. I was heartbroken! How could God
What does this have to do with Romania and the world race?
Well, in saying my goodbyes to my family my grandpa got to talking about my grandma. He told me that when I was little I used to promise my grandma that when I got older I would take her around the world with me. He was shocked to find out that I didn’t remember that at all! He then asked me to take her with me in my heart with me as I venture around the world! The tears began welling up! I couldn’t get the words out to tell him on every mission trip I have ever been on grandma goes with me! Grandma went with me in Japan, New Orleans, Haiti, Kentucky and now ATL, NYC, Poland, and Romania!!! Thankfully, when I was done fighting back the tears I was able to tell him!
Of course my grandma isn’t literally going around the world with me, but her pictures and the memories are. She helped shaped me into the woman I am today. To honor her huge role in my life I am considering starting a blog series. I might take pictures with me and the pictures in each country, or I might even just write a blog series of letters to her. I dunno yet, and I realize that circumstances will change!
Thanks for being a part of this!
