I realize the last couple blogs I have written were very serious..so on this one I decided to change it up!

While in Haiti I learned learn about camping, first hand! I even learned a whole new vocab genre. All the new words are in green.

For Example….

This would be the tent that I took with me….
Even though I was thankful that I had shelter over my head, it turned out to be a total nuisance. I had many nights with water dripping on me and all over my bed. Some nights If it was raining pretty hard I would just stretch out across the tent, holding the walls up, in hopes of getting the water to roll down the tent!!. Also if you look closely at this tent, you will find there is very litte mesh. The only  place it is found is at the tippy top, and onthe window on the door. In 100+ degree weather that can pose quite some challenges!

Here is the new Tent….

I found a tent that is predominately mesh, It has a rain fly that wraps all the way around it in one big piece. It is light weight, which will make it great for carrying around! It is totally free standing, which will make it great when I have to put it on some hard terrain!

The Luggage

Now when I went to Haiti, I really did think it would be too much different then other "camping" adventures I had been on before. I took the same gear that I woulda on those trips. This is the suitcase that I ended up taking. Its Big, and bulky and fun to get around airports, and completly insane to try and pick up off the ground. But it was full of gear so it worked!

This is my new pack, I am eager to see how I will pack it!! What a concept, going around the world backpacking. I am gonna get pretty strong from carrying it around myself. I plan on testing it out at least one more time before leaving. I think it is pretty functional and pratical, but I might want to go SMALLER. I like that built into it is a opti-fit.

The Sleeping Matt….or Sleeping Pad?

Before…..
This is the Mattress I halled with me. It was big and bulky and took up alot of space. It came with a huge self-pump. I ended up not be able to pump it up on my own. Thank goodness for guys with muscles

AFTER…
Before going to Haiti the only sleeping beds I knew existed were the like the one above. However, I was quickly introduce to the Thermarest.. I even had the opportunity to sleep on one. I was surprised that I had a great nights rest on this mattress. It rolls up and is a decent size.

Lighting…

The first flash light I took was the typical flashlight.

I quickly was introduced to this nifty piece of equipment called a HEADLAMP. I quickly found how functional this small piece of equipment is!!

So this is my gear soooo FAR… If you have any thoughts or suggestions, I would love to hear them!!!
