On Sunday we decided to head up to Solola to do hospital
visits with one of the girls from Mi-Reto. We all thought it was going to be
great. We hopped on a “chicken bus to get there. That was an experience in and
of itself. First off they are called chicken buses for a reason and it’s not a
very fun reason and secondly you have about 3 people in every 2 person seat and
people standing in the aisles. It just gets so jammed pack.

                The
girl from Mi-Reto had brought oil and we anointed our hands and prayed for the
Holy Spirit to come and do miracles through us. As we walked into the hospital
I couldn’t believe that it was actually a hospital. They had different wards
for pediatrics, maternity, psychiatric, men, and women. Sarah and I first went
into the pediatric ward. There were 3 large rooms with 7 beds in each room.
Every bed was surrounded by multitudes of people who all came to visit. It was
a bit overwhelming so I decided to just walk the halls and pray over the people
that worked there and the families that were there with their loved ones. After
awhile I went and found the girls from lovebound. They were in the woman’s ward
praying over the sick and injured. I felt that I wasn’t supposed to be there. I
left again and made my way back to pediatrics. I prayed over a girl named
Amanda asking God to heal her broken leg. I wish that I could say that she got
and walked out, but that wasn’t the case. Feeling discouraged and uncomfortable
I went back by the girls. They were done in the woman’s ward and were heading
to the children’s. I introduced them to Amanda and then Angie and I went to a
different room that was less crowded to see if anyone needed prayer.

Angie spotted a boy who was
probably 2 named Aldo Bue. Aldo had his foot in a splint and wrapped with
bandages. Angie asked the mother, aunt, and grandmother if we could pray for
him and they agreed. I got down by Aldo who was sitting on his mother’s lap. He
wouldn’t look at me even when I took his leg in my hand. While Angie read from
John I just began to pray for the Holy Spirit to come into this boy’s life and
to heal his leg so that he might grow up serving the Lord and just being able
to play. I stopped for a moment and opened my eyes when I realized that Aldo
had put his nose on my nose and had locked his gaze to my eyes. I continued to
pray and so did Angie, only this time I held his gaze and watched as his eyes
began to sparkle. I could see courage and joy and hints of sadness behind his
eyes, but I kept on praying. Aldo began to touch my face especially my eyes. I
couldn’t look away. I was captivated and I knew that he could see the love of
Christ in me and I was beginning to see it in him too. When we had to leave I
told him how special he was and how much God loved him. Whether he understood
what I was saying or not I do not know, but I do know that I came nose to nose
with the Holy Spirit that day. As I stood up Aldo continued to touch my face
trying to bring it closer to his. I will never forget that moment. I continue
to pray that the Holy Spirit and Christ continue to captivate this little boy.
