After finishing ministry in Panama, we had a few days in Costa Rica before making the nearly three-day trek over to the Philippines. During that time we experienced team changes. I am now part of the only all-girl team on our squad. We named ourselves Team WOW – Women of the Word, Women of Wisdom, Women of Wit, really any W word that we feel most applies for the day and I am so honored to have the opportunity to serve, grow and giggle with these five amazing ladies.
Team Leader Mary Magoni
Mary is a recent early childhood education grad and has a smile that lights up a room. She has a positive approach to every situation and is the perfect karaoke partner when Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On is selected.
Tracy Horne
Tracy is a church secretary with a first aid kit bigger than mine (I’m sure it will come in quite handy) and a huge servant’s heart. She’s always taking photos or video so I’m thrilled that the next eight months will be thoroughly documented.
Cara Parker
Cara is a recent UT grad and shares my love for all things Texas. She even began the race with a Texas flag fan. She’s a great travel companion, running buddy and is always up for an adventure . . . especially when it involves a mad dash to In-N-Out burger in LA on New Year’s Eve!
Addie Weaver
Addie (on the right) is a social worker with her masters in Counseling/Psychology. I didn’t know Addie very well before being put on a team with her and I’ve quickly become inspired by her life and her heart for the Lord. We have some oddly similar stories and I look forward to the great memories we will make in the upcoming months.
Rebecca Weaver
Rebecca is a recent nursing grad and was my pack buddy at training camp for the overnight adventure. She’s got a huge heart for holding babies and I look forward to holding babies with her all over the world.
So there you have it, the amazing Team WOW. And we can spell out WOW with our faces. How fun is that?

I’m loving the Philippines and we are working with a fantastic ministry called Kids International Ministries. I’ll share more soon about the group I chose to work with. Until then, I want to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2011!
