So we have had little over a week on “Manastiery” so far and it has been great. We have been working hard, clearing some land and getting it ready to become a kids’ home for some of the Karen kids. The Karen people are natives of Northern Thailand, Burma and Laos. They are a very kind and giving people and have taken us in to their community with open arms. I feel blessed to get to hangout with them and see how they do life. They live very simply in small villages off the grid in the Mts. Some of them have solar power in their houses, and they have a small old Honda generator that they use if they need more lighting or sound for a community event like we had with them for Christmas. They had a local talent show, complete with a drama from us. Followed by an auction of some donated items benefiting the church where I was able to pick up my new hand-made murse (Man Bag).

They food has been amazing. They normally eat some crazy stuff like spider soup but as we are not the first team they have worked with, they know that we like Thai food more than Karen food and have learned too make it very well.  Mostly, Pe Rupee, the pastor’s wife, has been cooking for us and she has even made pancakes a couple times. She is an amazingly sweet woman, with the sweetest heart you could ever imagine. She has taken care of us in every way she can, blessing us every step of the way. Again we have gone somewhere to help them out and they have poured so much into us that I am not sure who got the better end of the deal.
