2 days ago I woke up after sleeping in my truck in a random walmart. The plan for the day was to have a look see at Philadelphia before heading further north towards new york city. After spending an hour or 2 in Philadelphia I decided to head over to Camden, NJ and hang out at a coffee shop for a bit responding to Facebook messages and Emails. I sent a text over to Sarah Ann from my team asking her for prayer. She responded with a message that said I had just woke her up from a dream that I was in. She believed it was prophetic(from God) and in her dream I was going around praying for people in the streets while someone documented it through pictures and video… Sweet dream right?! Only 1 problem, I’m on a road trip by myself and I don’t really know a whole lot of people up here in the north eastern portion of the country so I’m not sure how that would all work.. But I told her I'd pray about it and let the Holy Spirit lead 🙂
Philly from the Camden, NJ side
I decided to hang out for most of the afternoon around Camden, NJ and then I figured I’d hit up an REI(where God told me to get rid of my 70L pack and wait to get a smaller day pack for the race). While at REI I remembered that I’d met a guy last week at training camp who said he lived near New York City(my next hopeful stop on my trip). Although we only talked for a few minutes he said if I was up there he’d show me around the city. So I shot him a text and asked if he could still host me like he said he could. He said he could and asked me if I wanted to go to his small group in a few hours.I told him I would and made my way up to New York City.
Once I arrived at Scotts place, we hoped in his car and headed to his church offices where the small group would be. On the way over I begin to share with him my heart about praying for people in the streets. I told him some of the amazing things that the Holy Spirit was doing through my prayers including healing a guys ankle while I was running in Washington DC the day before! After sharing a few more stories and telling him I’d love to go into New York City he responded with “Yeah man I’ll take you, do you mind if I document what you’re doing?” Excuse me?! Like record me praying with people? Come to find out, my new friend Scott is actually a photographer and just received a GoPro that he wanted to test out! WOW, God that was quick! Scott just laughed when I told him about my team mates dream, my team mates response? “PRAISE HIM!!”
Also during the drive over to the small group Scott tells me that it’s the churches artistic small group and he asked if I would share a bit of my testimony and story. Absolutely, I mean I’m not an artist or anything but my life is a testament of the goodness of Jesus how could I turn down a chance to talk about him!?!
We got to the church offices and after a few brief introductions I was told that there was nothing planned except me speaking that night. I guess the leader didn’t get anything like she normally did and when Scott told her I was coming to town she realized God wanted me to speak. So with that, I had the floor. If you know me you know I can ramble for a very long time, especially because there is sooo much good that God has done in my life how can I not?! So not knowing how much time I had and how long I would be speaking I rushed through nearly my entire life starting as a pastors kid and worked my way up to the present when I had just prayed for and healed a guy in Washington DC. Afterwards I offered to pray with everyone, but the leader thought we should sing a few songs first.
So we started off with 2 worship songs by Jesus Culture which we played off of youtube. The songs were “You won’t relent” and “break every chain”. The power of the Holy Spirit just begin to fall in that place and it was awesome! After the songs they all gathered around Scott and I, and prayed for our world race trip next year. After they prayed for us it was our turn to pray for them. While they were praying for us God had been speaking to me about 3 people in the room. 1 by 1 I went to each of them and begin to share what God had spoke to me, and then I got to pray for each one. Pretty soon everyone was praying for everyone and it was just an awesome holy ghost party!! There was about a dozen people or so and by the end of the night I had prayed with everyone nearly 1 on 1 and God had given me words for about 7 or 8. It was an awesome night! Who would have thought I'd randomly go to a small group, share my testimony and share of Gods goodness to his kids, and then pray for nearly all of them and receive words for most!! It was simply amazing! But the night wasn't over yet!

Scott asked if I wanted to go into the city afterwards?! I had never been to NYC so of course I did!! The city was beautiful! The lights and buildings are mesmerizing, at first it didn't seem real, it takes a while to adjust to how large everything is. Scott treated me with some food from a turkish food cart, some of the best food ever! We then headed over to Times Square. It was so amazing just to sit there and enjoy being surrounded by so many people representing various cultures around the world. NYC is like a cultural chex mix!!
After finishing our meal on the steps of Times Square, I started looking for someone to pray for. Come on Jesus, lead me to some hurting people. A few minutes later we ran into Gold and Silver who are street performers in Times square. I had an opportunity to hang out with them for a while and share the love of God with them as well as pray for them. They were awesome guys and after I’d get done praying they’d find something else they wanted prayer for ha ha
I also prayed with the Cookie Monster!!! We ended up leaving Times Square around 1am and got home just before 2.

What an amazing first night! God showered me with so much favor and He was just getting started!There is a lot more that has happened in the 2 days following. So stayed tuned for the next parts of “Walking in favor”. Oh, did I mention that Scott has been a huge blessing and covered all of my expenses that night?! Thank you so much Scott from M squad!!
