On Thursday October 18th my team and I felt led to ATL (Ask the Lord) for our ministry day. As we began we all prayed asking Jesus what he had in store for us for the day. We all got different one or two word responses they ranged from School to red barn to Kings Palace to hitchhiking to La Ceiba a city about 2 hours away. So after praying into it a little some more of us got confirmation that we were supposed to be hitchhiking to La Ceiba. We then asked God what we were supposed to be bringing on this adventure. I felt led to bring water, my wallet with 100 Lempiras ($5-USD) and my smartphone but had to keep it shut off until it was necessary for whatever reason. My teammate Bryan brought absolutely nothing, not even a bottle of water. The ladies ranged from bringing a very full day pack with everything you could imagine including popcorn to only a small bottle of water and going barefoot. Once we set out on the journey it wasn't long before we got our first ride, a tiny little pickup truck. My team of seven and our squad leader KK all climbed into the box and told them that our destination was La Ceiba but we would be thrilled with whatever distance they took us. After driving maybe a quarter of a mile or so the driver turned off of the road to La Ceiba, we all kind of looked at each other but decided that it was all good Jesus was in charge and already new our destination. After maybe another mile the pickup came to a stop at the chicken bus station, where we could have caught a bus to La Ceiba which was out of the question because between the eight of us we didn't have enough cash on us to cover the tickets for a one way trip. At this point the 8 of us were slightly confused as to why we were brought to the bus station. So we turned the most powerful tool in our arsenal prayer and asked the Lord why He had us there. While we were praying a gentleman came over to us and said what we thought was that he would take us to La Ceiba, but then after talking to them a little more we realized that is not what they meant and we moved down the sidewalk a little more and stood in a circle praying asking God where he wanted us to go or what direction to head in. The Lord told us to head towards The Kings Palace a Chinese Restaurant on the main road. After our prayer session Jen had wanted to purchase two bananas from one of the stands we were praying in front of to give away at some point on our journey. I suggested to her that she try and trade a bag of popcorn for the two bananas, when she asked the lady took the popcorn and gave us eight bananas in return. As we continued towards The Kings Palace somebody from the other stand we were praying in front of gave Kaitlyn a pair of brand new flip flops after they saw she was barefoot.
I will update with part 2 later…Probably tomorrow.
