Fundraising Update!

Good News: I’m 25% funded! I have surpassed my first fundraising goal of $3,500. Fundraising has been a truly humbling experience up to this point. I’ve witnessed my friends and family give generously and sacrificially. To be the benefactor of this generosity has been incredible, and I couldn’t be more thankful.

My next goal of $7,500 needs to be met by August 18th, which is two weeks before I leave for my trip.

I will be sending out fundraising packets this week! If you want to receive more information on my trip and ways you can help make my goal of going on the World Race possible, please let me know so I can send you a fundraising packet!

If you would like to parter with me on this mission trip, you can donate by clicking the “Support Me!” link at the top or to the left of this page! Every dollar helps!

I have also opened a gift registry with REI. If you would like to support me by helping me get everything I need for my trip, you can do so through my gift registry. Just click this link –http://www.rei.com/GiftRegistryDetails/GR57848587.

Personal Update!

Training Camp is coming!

I leave for training camp in ONE WEEK! That means I get to meet all of the people that I will be spending the next year with. I can’t wait, but I also get more nervous everyday. My friend Daniel and I went to REI earlier this week and got (hopefully) everything I’ll need for training camp. Buying my pack, tent, and sleeping bag made me realize that this is all really happening. Starting Saturday, I will be spending my week sleeping in a tent, showering minimally, and preparing for the journey of a lifetime on the World Race!

Finishing Classes

Even though I participated in the graduation ceremony in May, I am still a few credits short of having my diploma. I finished the first of three classes at the end of June, and the other two will conclude at the end of July. It’s been stressful balancing class, work, and fundraising, but I’ve made it work. I couldn’t be more ready for them to be over! By the time they are done, I will only be one month away from leaving on the Race!

Overcoming Doubt/Fear

The past few months have been challenging. With college ending and the World Race beginning, this is a huge season of transition for me. One huge thing I leaned about myself in college is that I don’t handle change well. So, over the past few months I’ve really debated whether going on the World Race was the right decision for me. In early June, I had pretty much decided that I wasn’t going. I was supposed to be meeting with my friend Autumn later that week. She and just returned from the Race that month, so I was eager to talk to her about her experience. I went into my time with her with so many fears, doubts, and preconceived notions about the World Race, and she shattered every single one of them. From that point on, I’ve been sure that the World Race is the right thing for me, and I couldn’t be more excited for the next year. Having a friend that has gone on the Race to talk through things with has been incredible. I’m still nervous and a little scared, but there would be something wrong if I wasn’t. Training camp is a week away, and I couldn’t be more excited!
