After two flights, a twelve hour bus trip, and an exhilarating ride through downtown Bangkok in the back of a pickup truck, my squad mates and I finally arrived at our destination in Phuket, Thailand. This journey is finally becoming my reality after six, long months of waiting. It’s been good reuniting with my team members and catching up on everything that’s been happening since training camp. Also, I can tell that I’m not the only one who is a bit overwhelmed that this is really happening. There is definitely an excitement amongst us as we prepare for our ministries. We still have a few days of training here in Phuket, with our squad leaders and several other WR staff members that are joining in our launch.
I am excited to share that for this month I will be serving here in Phuket with SHE Ministries, or Self Help and Empowerment. SHE works with women and children marginalized and at risk, with the majority working in the bars and commercial sex industry of Patong. SHE is helping women at risk by
operating a centre which offers a safe environment, vocational training, counselling,
rehabilitation and sustainable employment opportunities. It’s a place to learn new skills, form
relationships and experience the grace of God and above all, a realization of their own worth
and value. I know this will be a challenging month of ministry as we will be constantly surrounded by spiritual warfare. There is a great darkness in this area, but I believe that God has called us to bring hope and life to the lost and hurting women of Thailand, and I can’t to see how He will use me.
Thank you again for your continual prayers and support!
