Confession: I love writing, but usually only when I get hit with some inspiration or I need to get something off my chest. So this blogging every week thing, its gonna be hard. But usually when I start writing, even though I don't want to. That inspiration kicks up.

Here are some thoughts from training camp:

1. My squad is crazy. I freakin love them. There is such a wide range of personalities its unfathomable that we all became family so quick. I've never been in a group so large and crazy without people clicquing (oh gosh my spelling skills just got exposed) up and dissension happening. But this was great.

2. Sophia can SING. yeesh.

3. The men of S-squad are the best. Period. We all have different, complementary skill sets. We challenged each other, we cried with each other, we felt each other's pain (heck they even felt my inability to grieve and helped me start that process!!) So yeah, love these dudes! zack and clay are my male teammates, we're gonna challenge each other and grow a ton!

4. I LOVE my team. And I don't mean that fluffy, i feel some fleeting ascetic feeling for you love that our culture has made out to mean love. I mean that gutsy love that says "IM NOT GOIN ANYWHERE" when bombs are flying around, we're mad at each other, everything is goin wrong around us and this ish is  getting real. We were assigned teams, and they asked "if this was your team, how would you feel?". We all said thumbs down. AWKWARD. All of us had been on teams that worked better together and clicked better. So. They put us together. And I love them for it. This team is going to grow together and challenge each other in a way I wouldn't have thought possible. I LOVE every one of them. And we are family. BUT, we are dysfunctional as a mug, so you folks are my accountability. Ask me how i'm loving my team.

-Zack VanderWall- Our dutchmen team leader from Detroit. Love this dude. He has that quiet, helpless, child like love for the Lord that I yearn for. Maybe servin with him will help me feel again ha. The way he makes sure everyone in our team is involved is uncanny and reassuring.

-Clay Holst- The slightly awkward Starbucks/YMCA employee from Iowa. Clay is the man. He loves hard and serves well, though quietly. Just being around him teaches me how to humbly engage others and have people's back without broadcasting it. (and he's really not that boring, he climbed out the back window of my speeding truck)

Jillian (sorry Jill I dont have your last name readily available ha)- This girl is solid yall. She is the humble servant that COULD be totally independent, but chooses to submit for the better of the team. And she sticks up for her teammates. And she's not afraid to call people to a higher standard. She's gonna be the one keeping me in line.

Mikkia Gentry- Mikkia is my girl man. She's strong and independent, speaks her mind, and loves hard. You won't hear any BS flowin from her mouth. She's the one i'm most alike, which is scary for her. I can't really put Mikkia in words, ya'll gon have to see a video or somethin.

Heather Lawton- I love Heather. She is our quiet, thoughtful sister that is so loving and caring and patient its unreal. Wisdom, truth, and FREAKING REALNESS flow from her, and I love that. She is not afraid to tell you her fears, and hear yours, and she's a team builder. She is INVALUABLE to our team.

Elizabeth (the rest of your name is too hard to spell)- She's an EMT, so that means we won't die at least. Super practical, loving, compassionate. I saw this girl cry one time and it absolutely broke me. She has that kind of care for other people that when they hurt, she LITERALLY hurts. She isn't afraid to step up and contribute, but she never does it carelessly or needlessly. Her practicality is killer.

5. HERE ME ON THIS. The Adventures staff is totally in love with Jesus, servant hearted, and grounded in the Word. I heard a lot of rumors going into training camp that Adventures was a cult, but after camp I think people think that b/c they ACTUALLY believe the Bible. Weird. I know. I've never been around a group of people that cared about my spiritual growth so much.

Ok, the blog session we did at camp said not to get wordy so i'm done. Love ya'll. Peace
