Honestly, most stories I have heard in my life regarding God healing people and miracles have been stories about someone’s distant cousin’s friend’s deceased uncle. Seeing God heal people with my own eyes is very new to me. I want to walk you through two different stories in which God used me and the team I was with. Hopefully you can take this to heart since most people reading this blog know me. I am not trying to fabricate a story or even exaggerate it by any means. In fact, I want to tell it as honestly as I possibly can because I believe that if I am a good steward, God will give me more!
One day we were walking through a village sharing the gospel. In the first house we came to was a Catholic man with his daughter. After talking for a bit we found out that this man had trouble breathing. When I asked him to take a deep breath he would cough and really just sounded terrible. He said this had been the case for a long time. As we began talking with him, I was able to share a bit about our story with The World Race. I was very honest with him and told him that healing people was very knew to me, since coming to Kenya, but that just 2 weeks prior to this God has used us to heal a woman with a hurting hip and I believed God wanted to heal him. At first when we asked if we could pray for him he said “noâ€�, because he was worried about what his Catholic church would think (not that they didn’t believe in healing). After a short talk with his daughter, in Swahili, he wanted us to pray for him.
As we laid hands on his chest and throat we rebuked any sickness in his body and declared him to be healed in Jesus Name. We then asked him how he felt, if God had touched him, and asked him to breathe in and out. He started coughing immediately and sounded terrible still. This was discouraging to us, but we decided to pray again. We pressed in and began praying more fervently, believing this was God’s will. After praying for him the second time, we repeated our questions asking if God had touched him….if he was healed? He proceeded to check himself out to see if anything was different. As he breathed in and out, he did not cough or wheeze and actually sounded healthy again. He was in shock and didn’t believe it still. He kept trying to make himself cough, but couldn’t because God had healed him.
Why we had to pray twice before anything happened, I don’t know…but God had touched his life right there in front of his daughter! This jump started her faith and she asked us to pray for her next so that she could accept Christ as her Savior. It was a fantastic moment!
People have been so hospitable to us everywhere we go
Later that afternoon, our group headed to the local hospital to share the gospel with the sick and pray for them. The hospital in Bungoma, Kenya consists of different wards full of sick people. As our group split up into 2 separate teams our team walked into one of the wards. Silas shared a word and then we began to pray for people.
While we prayed for 3 different people, I want to share the story of one man. He had numbness in both of his legs from his knees down to his feet as well as open festering wounds. It was a bit gross, but we asked him if he believed Jesus could heal him. He said he was born again and believed! Silas, Mandi, and myself gathered around the man and began to pray, rebuking the numbness and commanding feeling to come back into his legs in Jesus name. After we finished praying we asked him our usual question…did anything happen? As he checked himself out he said the numbness had left his knees. AMEN, but we believed Jesus could fully restore his legs. We continued to pray a second time and again asked him to check himself out. This time he said that the numbness had receded down to his feet and he had feeling in his knees and shins. We were very excited and full of faith by this point and continued to pray a third time. After the man checked himself out he said the numbness was gone. He proceeded to stand up and walk around with a big smile on his face.

There have been several stories of healing from different people on our squad, including a man being healed of blindness in one eye. It has been an exciting time for us as we stand in awe at the greatness of our God. While there has been big breakthrough, there has also been an unusual amount of people on our squad getting sick (malaria, typhoid, parasites, amoebas…). We are not oblivious to spiritual warfare and we ask that you would stand in prayer with our squad as we continue to press into the “MORE� of God and his Goodness!!!
