As our team asked me to give a word, I felt speechless and did not know how I could possibly relate to these women. Any word of hope seemed so far removed from this situation and quite hypocritical. After doing my best to share a word we decided to pray for these women. As we began to pray something began to happen in this little room….I’m not actually sure what each person experienced, but I can at least share this from my point of view. My heart began to break for these women and their situation in a way I can’t fully explain. I’m not even quite sure what we prayed for them. As we continued to pray and sing worship songs Anna and I began to sob like babies. I couldn’t help it, but it just began to flow out uncontrollably for probably 20 minutes.
As we finished up it was obviously a very touching moment for all of us and deep down in my heart I had full confidence that God had released blessings on this family and was answering their cries, whatever they were. We then took a picture, hugged each other, and went our separate ways. I thought this was the last I’d see them….
Three days later, these two women showed up at the medical clinic where we had been sleeping. As Sandy and I began talking with them they seemed so full of joy and hope. This was obviously different than my last experience with them and I was curious why they had come. There were multiple reasons and she began to explain what had happened since the day we visited them. The day after we prayed, Anna’s son came home! Wow right….well he had been in prison for 6 months and was supposed to spend another 6 months to 1 year there (not sure what for). “Somehowâ€ his documents had disappeared so the prison guards had no choice but to release him (and according to our ministry contacts, it is VERY difficult to get released from a Kenyan prison). Her son had come home, which is something she had been praying for (yet we were not aware of this when praying with her)…AMEN!
The women also proceeded to tell us how, before we came to pray for them the first time, God had revealed to Anna in a vision that He was sending someone to them…that was us! In fact, when we showed up at their house the first day, Anna was explaining this vision to her friend…and then we walked up mid-sentence (God’s timing is PERFECT)!!
About 3 days after I left this ministry, I received a phone call from our ministry contacts. They had gone to visit Anna and Rose again and learned that some money had come into their hands. Someone had decided to give them the “School Fees” they needed for their children to go to school. God was literally showering this family with blessings!!!

Our team with Anna and Rose
When I think of the peculiarity of this story, it makes me think long and hard about God’s character. Through this chain of events, God has revealed Himself to me and hopefully to you as well. God had compassion for these women and allowed me to be a part of the restoration of this family. Papa God has a good future planned for these women as well as all of us, His children..I am certain of it!!
