When we arrived in the truck and hopped off we were greeted by many smiling Thai people who were very excited to see us. We were shown seats and fans were placed so that we would be cooler. We found out that we were to go out and prayer walk and pass out Bibles throughout the village inviting people to the worship that we would be having after dinner.
We split into two groups and walked off with the Thai people of the village and the youth who had come with us. We were unable to communicate at all with the people we met as our translators had been sent to do something else in preparation for the evening. We could however pray and we did do that.
We arrived back at the house and dinner was served. Like always the Thai people wanted us to go first. When I came through line the woman who lived in the home we were at directed me to go sit inside her home. I did along with a few other racers. She again made sure we were comfortable and had a fan to be cool. She was so excited to have us there, and we were just excited to be a part of this. The Thai people are amazing and so generous. We have been blessed all month by how they serve.
After dinner the worship began. We helped out with a skit and a few songs, but most of it was led by our translators. We have found in our time here that there are songs we and the Thais both know just in different languages. About the time we started worship lighting began to flash throughout the sky from an oncoming storm. Can I just tell you how amazing it is to sing praises to the God who makes the lightening flash and brings the cool breeze that was blowing in two different languages. It was so amazing.
When the night ended we jumped back into the truck and headed home. We watched the lightening flash across the rice fields and through the clouds. Then it began to rain slowly at first, but by the time we got home the roads were flooded and we were all soaked through. That night was the coldest night we have had and we all slept so well. God gave us an amazing evening and night with believers across the world and showed us he loves us by giving us a cool night and the ability to sleep well. I will not be able to forget this night of the race.
