After about 24 hours straight of traveling and stepping on four different countries and two continents in that time we found ourselves in Manila, Philippines at the Kids International Mission for debrief. Debrief is our time to come together as a squad, meet with our squad leaders and squad coaches and refresh ourselves after a few months of ministry. It was a great five days of rest, of learning, and of connecting with people who I don’t often get to see.
We found out that we will spend this whole month together as a whole squad serving in different ways with this ministry we are working with. It is crazy that we are all here together, but it is nice too. This will be the most time the whole squad has spent together since training camp, and launch. It makes a different dynamic for us all, but it is good to spend time with people who I don’t see much of and to get to know others better. At first I was not looking forward to all being together, because it can be rather overwhelming to me to have so many people in the same place. Things have been good though and I’ve enjoyed this chance to be together. I’m glad that this is how the month has worked out.
I am loving the Philippines! Everything is so cheap here. 100.000 pesos is $20. With some of our free time we have explored two malls, and a local market. We took Saturday and went to the mall and ate Wendy’s and watched Alice in Wonderland. It was a good day to just get out and relax with friends.
One day after coming back from town we were greeted by lots of kids hanging out playing where we stay. Let’s just say that has been one of my favorite days so far. We spent the late afternoon hanging out with adorable kids and learning dances from them. God blessed me that day for sure.
