As I sat at the table with my team in Vietnam I was speechless.  I was eating a Thanksgiving meal in Vietnam.  Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, dinner rolls, salad, cranberry sauce, candied carrots and pumpkin pie.  Never in my life did I imagine I would spend a Thanksgiving away from my family, let alone in Vietnam.

This opportunity that I have been given continues to blow my mind. God continues to blow my expectations and reminds me every day that this is an opportunity to embrace and to enjoy each day.

It’s not easy being away from family during the holidays but it has made me appreciate them even more.

There are so many things to be thankful for every day and these are currently a few of the things I am thankful for:

1. Supportive family who has allowed me to come on this trip.

2. The people of Vietnam.  These people are some of the most welcoming and friendly people and they are so eager to show you around.

3. The ex-pat community in Vietnam.  We have been so blessed to meet so many Americans, Canadians, Malaysians, and British who are here doing God’s work.  They have willingly invited us into their homes and have cooked us meals and have provided a bit of refreshment for us.

4. A real Thanksgiving dinner (we weren’t sure we would find an American Thanksgiving meal in Vietnam but God provided a way for that to happen.  Thank you Master’s Cup and team Boldly Present for making it possible!

5. The Hungry Youngsters.  I’m glad I got to spend Thanksgiving with them.  They are becoming like family to me.

These are just a few of the long list of things I am thankful for.  What are you thankful for?  What is God showing you currently?  My prayer and hope is that you would cherish this time with family and friends and thank our Heavenly Father for all the blessings he has given you.

God bless you all and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
