It’s month 2! We arrived in Thailand on October 3rd. Our squad mentor and squad coaches joined us for a few days for a debrief. The first two days were filled with meetings and team debriefs. We also had a chance to have some one-on-ones with our squad leaders, coaches and mentor. It was a time for us to process what happened in Cambodia and prepare us for all squad month here in Thailand.
What is all squad month? Well, all 42 of us are living in one hostel and are sharing 3 bathrooms, 7 showers, and 7 sinks. This hostel is right above a coffee shop…needless to say it’s going to be a struggle to not spend money on coffee, desserts, or smoothies every day.
We are all working with Pi Emmi who began Lighthouse in Action. There are three different ministries: Bar ministry, coffee shop ministry, and slums ministry. My team, the Hungry Youngsters, will be working in the slums as well as talking to monks. Each day we will have a chance to go to the temples and chat with the monks! I’m pretty excited to see how God is going to work in that and building relationships with the men. I’m also excited to learn more about Buddhism since I don’t really know anything about it. In the afternoon we will then be going to the slums and playing with the kids there and teaching them English through songs and stories. It’s going to be a challenging but fun month. This next week will be our first full week doing ministry so much prayer is appreciated.
It’s crazy that month 2 has already begun. Time just keeps flying by but I have been trying my best to stay focused on one day at a time. It’s easy to think ahead to what may be happening in the future months but I have to remind myself that I need to take one day at a time.
I also can’t believe that this is my life right now. And it couldn’t be my life right now without your guy’s support. So thank you again and please continue to pray for my team and squad this month.
This is my team: Chase, Carli, Me, Megan, Scott, Katie
This is L Squad!
