I was just finishing up my run the other day when I saw two girls, Jackie and Clementine, around my age each carrying a huge box that looked super heavy (we later learned it was filled with cooking flour).  I ran up to them and asked in my broken espanol if they’d like some help (people around the world are much more apt to accept hospitality than we typically are) and one of them smiled and handed me her box to carry without hesitation.  It’s about a 25 min hike up the mountain to a cabin that we sometimes escape to is so i kind of knew what I was getting myself into.
time to climb…i almost wipe out at least 5 times everytime i go up and down this thing

these plants are about twice the size of me..i like i’m in Mario when he’s tiny and everything around him is huge!

As we were hiking, we came across Brittany Jackson listening to some tunes.  Brittany grabbed Jackie’s box and we continued up.  After continuing past the cabin, over some steep rocks and ledges and after Brittany cut her noggin on the tin roof as we were trying not to fall down the mountain we arrived in their little home πŸ™‚

michelle πŸ™‚ so sweet <3

glenda πŸ™‚ such a great big sister
alexi πŸ™‚ man, i love this kid.  he’s so fearless (we learned this while we were playing tag on the edge of mountain as he scurried under the barb wire fence to get away from garrett)  alexi’s also got one of the best smiles and laugh’s around πŸ™‚

We were greeted by about 5 little tykes, the mom and a couple little babes.  We drank some water apprehensively- to which we later learned we shouldn’t have since most people in Hondurans drink the tap water which is infested with everything we’re trying to avoid, but the Lord protected us and we never got sick!  Hooray!  The kids and Brittany and I made a plan to help eachother with our english and spanish whenever we met up which has been fun πŸ™‚  The littlest baby, Stephanie, has been sick since we first met them so we’ve also been able to pray over her and for the family.

the day after liliana’s 6th birthday- bursting with excitement, ay? haha she’s just a bit shy πŸ™‚  she’s got the biggest, sweetest smile ever <3 i decided to make her a birthday card that i finished literally riiight when they stopped by on their way home from school. she was so excited to have gotten that from everyone that she wouldn’t even put her in her backpack for their walk home πŸ™‚
there’s that smile πŸ™‚

We’ve continued to go back to their home to visit and play with the kids.  The kids pass Tony’s house on the way to school so they’ve been stopping up before and after to say hello πŸ™‚  The last time we went up, we played tag on probably the most dangerous terrain you could imagine and then the girls walked us through how to make tortilla’s from scratch!  I have loved getting to unexpectedly know and love this family!  They’ve invited us to the church on the mountain with them so we’re super excited to attend with them.  It’s funny how such a simple thing as helping carrying a box can lead to such a meaningful relationship with people we never would’ve gotten close with otherwise.

But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.  He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.   It does not fear when the heat comes; it’s leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit
