First off, I love Vietnam!
What a month so far… to be in a position to truly rely on only Him for what we need has been oh so good. After arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, we met with our contact. Throughout the next few days, we spent time with him and his friends doing ministry around the city. We visited an orphanage where the kids literally ran up to us and attacked us with the warmest hugs you could possibly imagine, as if we had known them their entire lives. We played games, sung songs and acted out the lost sheep story. After finishing the skit, we explained how much He loves them and asked if they had any questions…keep in mind, these boys and girls ranged from 2 yrs old to 10 yrs old so you never know what to expect as far as their interest level goes. We are constantly having to leave our expectations at the door- the kids started asking questions one after the next! Here are a few that we heard…
· Why did He create the universe?
· Why did He create earth?
· Why did He die for us?
· Why does He love us?
· Why is there sin?
· Why does Satan want to kill us?
· Why does S*tan live in hell?
· What can we do to please G*d?
· Why do we have only one mouth and two ears? ** to which Jonathan cleverly answered, because we’re supposed to be quick to listen and slow to speak haha J
· Why are we sheep and not cows or chickens?
He was faithful and gave us the words to answer these simple yet tough questions. We’ve been consistently praying for open hearts and opportunities to show His love and tell who He is and He has constantly been answering those prayers.
