Instead of wrapping things up before Christmas, we decided to wrap up Thailand AFTER Christmas! hahahahaha…okay, enough dad jokes!
I feel like I say this just about everytime I write, but man, time flies.
As I mentioned before, the girls and I took a ferry to an island for Christmas day for about a dollar. We laid out all day, soaked up the sun, swam, listened to tunes and topped the afternoon off with a tropical drink J
After the beach we had dinner at an Italian restaurant at the mall (a first for pepperoni pizza on Christmas day J) and then we went down to the bars to wish the girls we had met a Merry Christmas.
she’s amazing <3
this is belle. we talked to her for over an hour our first night walking downtown…by the end of our prayer together, she said she was holding back tears. she’s extremely sweet, personable and has a beautiful heart. she’s working here to earn money for her family while her 3 yr old son lives with her parents about 5 hours away. eventually she wants to stop working in the bars and move near her parents to work on their farm. at this point, she’s hiding this side of her life from everyone that loves her.
Unfortunately, every girl we were hoping to see was indeed working, but on a positive note, we were extremely happy to see them since it was our last night in Pattaya. Honestly, this was by far the busiest we had seen the bar area. It was obvious the girls are trying to do what they think is best for their families, but what they really need to understand is how much more important it is that they’re home with them and loving them rather than sending a paycheck and visiting every few months. We’ll continue to pray for each of them and I hope you do the same. They have such good hearts and so much love to give.
nothing beats teaching english class without knowing what they know or having ever taught english before! haha it went just grand 🙂
we surprised them with donuts on Christmas after daily devotional…there’s a ridiculous story that goes along with this but i’ll wait to tell you
The next morning we said our goodbyes to our Step Ahead family left for Bangkok whom we were so sad to leave. We had tons of laughs together during English class and getting to know eachother throughout the day.
We reunited with the squad in Bangkok with had a day or two to catch up before heading to Cambodia. Tracy, Ashley, Jess, Jiop (our amazing friend and translator) and I decided we wanted to finish the month off with some karaoke, so that’s exactly what we did! I was expecting a stage and to make a fool of myself – we ended up doing ‘japanese karaoke’ – where you get a private soundproof room, a tv and 4 microphones and you just sing your little heart out! haha (expect pics soon)
ok, that’s all for now. i love you all mucho! only $388 more until i’m fully funded!! thank you so much! God has been oh so good <3
