Ministry in Lira, Uganda

Victory Outreach Ministry – Pastor Johnson is our main ministry contact while we’re here in Lira. Victory Outreach is the church that runs the various ministries we’ll be working with. They’ve managed to cover just about all the bases as far as ministries go. We’re extremely excited to be partnering with them this month. The following list will give you an idea of what we’ll be involved with while we’re here…

HIV/AIDS Clinic – Women and children come together at the church for encouragement and prayer to keep them moving forward.  This gives them the opportunity to be themselves and share ideas of what’s going on in their lives as well as how they want to make a difference in the lives of others that have been effected by HIV/AIDS. This past Friday I met Barbara and was very open about sharing her story with me. It was only a year ago, that she was bedridden without much hope for survival. It was then that God moved in a big way for her – physically as well as spiritually. She was so full of joy and so excited to share what God has done in her life. She recorded a cd named Mama Miracle that gave further testimony of the victory that the Lord has shown her, and was gracious enough to give me a copy to bring back to the states so I could share her story with others. I love building these relationships while we’re here. Sometimes it’s hard to get past the fact that we’ll only be in these locations and ministries for a month, but it’s meeting people like Barbara that makes it hard not to dive in head first.

Agriculture – We’ll be helping with the local farming – plowing, planting, mowing, etc. – and spending time with the families in the area.

Water Well Ministry – Providing extra man power to dig the wells.

Fountain and Agape Primary and Secondary Schools – Sports ministry, hearing testimonies from some of the children, spending quality time with them – the children include orphans, as well as children that we’re abducted and used as soldiers.

Compassion International – Spending time with the kids.

TOPAD – Hospital/Prison ministry.

Radio – Victory Outreach has run a morning show each day that we’ll have the opportunity to speak on while we’re here. It runs each morning and has about 1.4 million listeners. Talk about an opportunity to share what God’s done in our lives and what He’s teaching us J

Media – Helping out with their website, and any media projects they might need assistance with – video, photography, etc.

Victory Outreach Church– Ushering, preaching, serving with the youth, discipleship program, choir, etc.

…and whatever else we can do to help out J
