So, it was about 7pm on Tuesday night when we were on our way to the train station to head to Targu Mures. We bought our tickets for 10 hour train ride that would leave at 10:30PM. The past few trains we’ve taken have had lay down cabins so we could stretch out and catch up on some much needed rest…this time it was a sit down cabin…that we’d be on for 10 hours. After an hour or so of waiting for our train to board, we realized they gave us tickets for the 8:40PM train so by the time we went to switch them, they were sold out. We’re pretty used to rolling with the punches at this point, so we switched our tickets in for the next available train which was at 7:30AM the next morning.

At this point it was about 10:45PM and we had two choices 1) Take the bus back to Casa Shalom and get a couple hours of sleep before coming back 2) Sleep on the floor at the train station. We went with option 2! I still hadn’t slept since the all-nighter the previous night so I was content wherever we ended up. It seemed like our team was ready for an adventure because they were all pumped up to stay at the station. There were some shady folks wondering around looking at all our stuff and one lady actually attempted to get into one of our bags.

We found a little area that looked inviting and we set up shop. Ashley was so kind to lend me her sleeping mat and I was out! The next few hours are a blur to me, but from the pictures it looked like a lot of fun was had J We even ran into another World Race team that left last October and was just getting ready to finish up their last month out, and we learned that they had stayed where we were staying in Romania towards the beginning of their race…quite the coincadink(as my pops would say J)!

I woke up at 7am, picked up my gear and we headed to our train.  My teammates have a milliion stories from this night, but since I slept through it all you’ll have to read up on their blogs to hear about them 🙂
On our other trains, there were 4 people to a cabin and a lot of packing space…on these, there was 8 people to a cabin and barely any room for our packs. We put everything on the shelves that we could fit and the rest covered the floor under our feet…it was nice and cozy! Haha J

I never expected to have to sleep on the floor of a train station, but it was definitely a night to remember…well, as much as I could given that I was sleeping the majority of the time thanks to the all-nighter the night before. I love going with the flow and knowing that God will provide safety when we ask for it.

This train ride reminded me a lot of my sky diving experience.    Basically, everything happens in God’s timing. Making plans does not mean that our plans will be fulfilled, and if they aren’t we just have to go with it and know that it’s for a reason.

More to come on my next blog…
I love and miss you all!
