For many racers, the idea of spending your month doing Unsung Heroes is a scary thought.  Its different, and its unknown.  Its a month that’s unlike a traditional world race month.  During a normal month, we travel as a team to 1 location where we pair with 1 local ministry site.  We help them in whatever way they need: sharing the Gospel, teaching English, building houses, the list goes on..

But where do these local ministry sites come from? How did The World Race find them in the first place?

That’s where a month dedicated to finding Unsung Heroes comes into play.

The World Race definition of an Unsung Hero is: Men and women who are dedicated to serving some of the most impoverished populations in the world, yet rarely receive recognition for their dedication and service. These givers may also live with meager conditions but give consistently from an abundance of God’s love. Their names may not be in history books, their acts unknown to the rest of the world, while unrecognized, they shake a generation and move a culture and ultimately build the Kingdom.

During November, my team had the freedom to search the entire country of Nicaragua (East of Lake Managua) for Unsung Heroes – and for future ministry sites for future racers.  It was a month where we completely followed the Spirit wherever He guided.  It was a month filled with love, laughter, and long travel days.  It was free, and most of all- it was fun!

..7 Hostels, 5 cities, 2 panga rides, 1 ambulance ride, and 4 unsung heroes later… and here’s what we have!
